Hi, I'm Queenie.

Founder, Art Educator and Creative Designer at VQ Art Studio.

As the founder of VQ Art Studio, I believe that creativity has the power to inspire confidence, curiosity and lifelong learning. Every child is born creative, and every adult deserves the opportunity to create again. That belief is the heart of VQ Art Studio.

I graduated from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Art & Design, where I developed a multidisciplinary background in Graphic Design, Jewellery Design, Furniture Design and Interaction Design. Combined with years of fine art practice in sketching, watercolour, acrylic and oil painting, this diverse foundation allows me to bring both artistic technique and creative thinking into every class.

To further strengthen my artistic foundation, I undertook systematic academic fine art training under a senior oil painting professor from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA). This classical training shaped my understanding of observation, composition, colour theory and artistic expression, and continues to influence my teaching philosophy by balancing strong technical foundations with individual creativity.

I am currently an Art Teacher at Epping North Public School OSHC, where I design and deliver engaging visual arts programs for primary school students. Over the years, I have had the privilege of teaching children of different ages and abilities, helping them build confidence, creativity and independent thinking through original art projects.

Beyond teaching art, I am passionate about using creativity as a pathway to wellbeing and self-discovery. Through intuitive painting, mindful creativity and guided reflection, I create a welcoming space where adults can slow down, reconnect with themselves, explore their inner world and simply enjoy the creative process. Selected workshops may also include intuitive card guidance as a gentle and reflective experience.

Whether you are a curious child discovering your imagination or an adult rediscovering your creativity, my goal is to help every student discover the joy of creating with confidence, curiosity and authenticity.

 

Why I Started VQ Art Studio

People often ask me why I started VQ Art Studio.

Part of the answer comes from my own journey, but an even bigger part comes from what I witnessed as an art teacher.

When I first began teaching, I noticed that many children were encouraged to copy rather than create. They were expected to reproduce the same picture instead of exploring their own ideas. As someone with a design background, this never felt right to me. I believe art is not about drawing something perfectly—it is about learning how to think creatively, solve problems and express yourself with confidence.

Growing up, I was also deeply influenced by my father, who was an educator. His dedication to helping others taught me that education is not simply about teaching skills; it is about encouraging people, believing in their potential and helping them grow. That lesson has stayed with me throughout my life.

Art has also played an important role in my own journey. During some of life's most challenging moments, creating became a way for me to slow down, reconnect with myself and gradually rebuild my confidence. It reminded me that art is more than a finished painting—it can also bring comfort, courage and healing.

That is why VQ Art Studio was created.

I wanted to build a space where children feel safe to imagine, adults feel inspired to create again, and everyone is encouraged to express themselves without the fear of being "right" or "wrong."

Because at VQ Art Studio, we believe another word for creativity is courage.

VQ Art Studio is a creative space where art education, original creativity and meaningful experiences come together. Every class is designed to encourage imagination, confidence and personal expression while building strong artistic foundations.

Children's Art Programs

Our children's term programs focus on original creativity rather than step-by-step copying. Every week introduces a new theme, different art materials and fresh creative challenges, allowing students to explore a wide variety of artistic techniques throughout the term. Every lesson is thoughtfully designed by the founder with original themes, age-appropriate learning outcomes and a wide variety of artistic materials.

Through drawing, painting, mixed media and sculpture, children develop observation skills, creative thinking, problem-solving abilities and the confidence to express their own unique ideas. Small class sizes ensure that every child receives personalised guidance and encouragement throughout their artistic journey.

Adult Art Classes

Our adult programs range from beginner-friendly painting experiences to structured fine art training. Whether you are learning sketching, watercolour, acrylic or oil painting, our classes provide a relaxed and supportive environment where creativity can flourish at your own pace. We believe it is never too late to start creating.

Creative DIY Workshops

In addition to fine art, we offer a wide range of hands-on creative workshops for individuals, families and groups. Popular experiences include candle making, soap making, leather crafting, glass painting, wood burning, texture art, cream glue art, wool felting, DIY ukulele decorating and many more creative experiences.

These workshops are perfect for birthdays, hens parties, family gatherings, team building events or simply enjoying a creative day with friends. No prior experience is required—just bring your curiosity and enjoy the creative journey.

Mobile Art Workshops

We also bring creativity to you.

VQ Art Studio offers mobile art workshops for schools, childcare centres, community organisations, private events and corporate functions across Sydney. Travel fees may apply depending on the location.
