In this hands-on class, you will create your own brooch or hairpin using a time-honoured technique inspired by traditional enamel and resin inlay processes. Guided step-by-step, you’ll learn how to layer textures, colours, and light to achieve a luminous, jewel-like finish.

What you’ll experience:

You’ll begin by preparing the metal base using a traditional washed sand technique, creating a subtle textured foundation. From there, you’ll learn how to mix resin and pigments, then carefully fill the design with layered colour, glitter, and decorative elements such as pearls and fine embellishments.

Once the inlay is complete, the piece is finished with a clear resin sealing layer, giving it depth, durability, and a beautifully polished surface.

This process is slow, meditative, and deeply satisfying — a perfect balance of precision and creativity.

What you’ll make:

By the end of the workshop, you’ll take home a completed resin inlay brooch or hairpin, finished in your own colour palette and decorative style.
